The City issues the New Philadelphian Dollar as cash vouchers.1
City money has no value outside the city. The City never exchanges it for real money.
City account
Every citizen has a City account, opened with their citizenship. It shows:
- Your balance.
- Every transaction in and out.
- The checks you wrote, and the checks made out to you.
The City takes license fees from it when you send the form. To pay someone, write a check at the Bancc, or hand them vouchers. Payments are made in game, not on the site.
Linking Minecraft
Link your Minecraft account to your City record to use the Bancc:
- In game, type /link. You get a code, valid for 10 minutes.
- On the site, go to Profile → Accounts → Minecraft and enter the code.
- Check that the account named is the one you’re playing on, then link it.
To unlink, type /unlink in game, or choose Unlink on the same page.
Linking gives the City your Minecraft username and ID. See the privacy policy. In game, the Bancc shows people by their Minecraft username:
- On checks.
- In the list of citizens you can write a check to.
- In Recent activity.
Your City account shows each person’s Minecraft username under their name.
The Bancc
The Bancc is where the city’s cash is handled. Right-click a counter to open it. Java and Bedrock players use the same screens. There are two kinds of counter:
- Teller: your balance, deposits, withdrawals, and checks.
- ATM: your balance, deposits, and withdrawals.
Type /balance anywhere in game to see your balance.
Vouchers
Vouchers come in $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 notes, and carry the City’s mark. Each counter offers:
- Deposit all banks every voucher you carry.
- Deposit opens a drop box. Put in the vouchers you want to bank. Anything that isn’t a genuine voucher comes back to you.
- Withdraw lets you choose how many of each note to take, up to your balance. Nothing is withdrawn until you confirm.
To pay someone in cash, hand them the vouchers. To pay a named person, write a check.
The old paper vouchers were converted once into vouchers with the City’s mark. Paper renamed to look like a voucher is still paper, and won’t deposit.
Checks
A check is money made out to one person. At a teller, you can:
- Write a check to any linked citizen, online or not. The amount leaves your account when you write it.
- Cash a check made out to you. Nobody else can cash it.
- Cancel a check you wrote that hasn’t been cashed, under Your checks. You can also cancel it in your City account. The amount comes back to you, and the check can no longer be cashed.
Deposits that wait
The Bancc takes your vouchers before it records the deposit.
- If the site doesn’t answer, the deposit is held and sent again until it’s answered. You’re told in chat when it goes through.
- If a deposit is refused, its vouchers come back the next time you’re online.
Problems
Report a fault at the Bancc, or a deposit missing from your account, to the City Treasury. Use the contact on the Department of Commerce page.
