Mission
From N.P.C. 7 §2: Responsibilities of the Department:
The responsibilities of the Department are as follows and may be expanded or altered based upon the needs of the City:
- Regulate construction. The Department is responsible for drafting and enforcing codes which pertain to all construction, private and public;
- Oversee construction. The Department shall, as it sees necessary, actively oversee construction so as to better enforce codes;
- Maintain transport facilities. The Department shall maintain and provide for the upkeep of transit facilities, namely roads, rail lines, and the NPTA Transit Hub;
- Prosecute City vandalism. The Department should act as the prosecuting party in all applicable and necessary cases, when the City or its properties are involved, in the area of criminal mischief, in collaboration with the Attorney General;
- Maintain the New Philadelphia Transit Authority. The Department will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the New Philadelphia Transit Authority (NPTA).
The Department’s responsibilities are not limited to those listed and may be expanded or altered based upon the needs of the City.
