Mission

From N.P.C. 6 §2: Responsibilities of the Department:

The responsibilities of the Department of Commerce and its personnel are defined as follows; these responsibilities may be expanded or adapted based on the needs of the city:

  1. Assure ethical business practices. The Department of Commerce is to enforce each of the practices defined under this Title. The Department is also to adapt these practices as it deems necessary.
  2. Handle City finances. The Department of Commerce is to be responsible for the allocation and distribution of government funds based upon its needs.
  3. Maintain City currency. The Department is responsible for maintaining the trade and transfer of physical currencies recognized by the City.
  4. Maintain a fair business environment. The Department is responsible for providing necessary resources and programs to business owners and prospective business owners in order to successfully and competitively run or manage a business.
  5. Prosecute financial crimes. The Department should appoint and uphold a special prosecutor for the investigation and prosecution of violators of financial laws and codes of the City.

These responsibilities are under the jurisdiction of the Department of Commerce, but may be reassigned as necessary.
