Mission
From N.P.C. 9 §2: Responsibilities of the Department:
The responsibilities of the Department of Criminal Investigations are to be as follows:
- Maintain the criminal code. The Department is to maintain the criminal code in accordance with the New Philadelphia Charter. The criminal code is subject to Supreme Court approval.
- Prosecute offenders within the City. The Department is responsible for defending or representing the City in all cases for which it is necessary.
- Maintain the Internal Investigations Office. The Department must maintain the Office to uphold ethics within the City government.
- Maintain the New Philadelphia Penitentiary. The Department is to operate the New Philadelphia Penitentiary as the City’s main detention facility at all times.
The responsibilities of the Department may be expanded based upon the current needs of the City. The prior defined responsibilities may not be relinquished.
